O wning her own home had been Alice Lehner's dream for years. Through her perseverance and participation in the Section 8 Homeownership Program, Alice was able to purchase a home. For the first time, Section 8 recipients now may use their voucher for mortgage payments. Alice also participated in the Family Self-Sufficiency Program and was a past Housing Authority Scholarship recipient.

Thanks to the Butler County Homeownership Program, Teresa Kerr, of Chicora, and her two young daughters, Heather and Amanda are enjoying a new life as first-time homeowners. The program is designed to assist low to moderate income families with achieving homeownership. Participants receive services including credit counseling, homeowner education classes, mortgage referral assistance, and help with down payment/closing costs assistance when eligible.
