This program is open to all income eligible, single family, owner-occupied residents of Zelienople Borough, Butler County.
Examples of possible eligible improvements include:
Roofs
Windows
Electric
Heating
Plumbing
Obvious Structural Defects
Funding is limited, and not all eligible residents are guaranteed that there will be enough funds for all eligible requests.
ASSESSMENT
Once contacted, the Authority's program coordinator will assist you in preparing the following:
1. An eligibility screening whereby you will be asked to provide verification of your total family inocme, a copy of your deed or title and a copy of your Federal Income Tax Return.
2. House inspection to list the deficiencies to be corrected and desired property improvements.
3. A work write-up to assist contractors in preparing bids as well as an in house cost estimate of work to be performed.
4. Bids would be solicited and awarded from a list of approved contractors.
5. A contract which provides a grant of up to $12,000 to bring your home in compliance with Housing Quality Standards and Local Code Requirements.
6. A seperate and/or an additional grant of up to $2,500 is available to assist persons with disabilities in the modifications necessary for accessibility.
COST FINANCE
If the cost of the improvements exceeds the grant amount of $12,000 and/or $2,500 for accessibility, the homeowner is responsible for the excess. Housing Quality Standards must be met.
If the homeowner cannot pay for the difference, then they cannot participate in the program.
The homeowner is responsible for obtaining financing for any excess amounts above $12,000.
Possible financing is available through a co-sponsor program with NexTier Bank.
Bids must be received from several contractors. The contractor will be selected on the basis of insurability, price and other similar factors.

2 Persons = $38,400
3 Persons = $43,200
4 Persons = $48,000
5 Persons = $51,850
6 Persons = $55,700
7 Persons = $59,500
8 + Persons = $63,350
